This house seeks a sensible and discreet adaptation to a sloping plot with a prominent panoramic view of Santander Bay.
The ground floor features a panoramic porch sheltered from the northeast wind, a classic cold wind in Santander Bay during the summer months, and oriented towards the sunset with the city of Santander in the background. An automated window integrating the garden and pool into the living area is the only minimal facade, designed for use on warm days when the house and garden can be experienced as a single environment with Santander and the Picos de Europa mountains as a backdrop.
In contrast, the upper floor presents itself as a sculptural, brutalist volume constructed with unworked stone, which contrasts with the fine oak joinery, creating a welcoming interior.
